Bargaining teams head back to the table after a 3-day break

Talks aimed at ending the strike at Bombardier Transportation in Thunder Bay resumed on Tuesday afternoon.

The parties got back together at a city hotel, three daysafter they agreed to take a break from negotiations on a new collective agreement.

A spokesperson for Unifor, which represents over 900 striking workers, told CBC Newsthe provincial mediator who was involved in the talks for four days last week, was en route to Thunder Bay.

Bob Orr said the news blackout that was instituted last week will remain in effect as long as the two sides are still meeting. A spokespserson for Bombardier could not be reached Tuesday for comment.

The strike began on July 14.

Last Friday, when the talks were halted, Orr said at the time it did not look as if a deal was possible.

A key issue in the dispute is Bombardier's proposal to change the pension plan for newly-hired workers.
