Bob Nault, former Kenora-Rainy River MP, wants Liberal nod

The former MP forKenora-Rainy River, from 1988-2004, says he's getting back into politics.

Bob Nault announced Thursday he will seekthe nomination for the Liberal Party of Canada in the Kenora ridingfor the next federal election.

The riding is currently held by Conservative MP and cabinet minister Greg Rickford.

Nault is the former Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and was the MP for Kenora-Rainy River for over 16 years.

The Liberal Party, under the leadership of Justin Trudeau, has an opportunity to create real change for the better both in the riding of Kenora and in Canada as a whole, said Nault in a press release.

Trudeaus vision sees government as a positive force in the lives of its citizens, building infrastructure to create jobs, increase productivity, attract investment and improve our quality of life.

Nault has a long history representing the people of the Kenora riding.

At the age of 29, Nault was elected to a three-year term as Kenoracity councillor. He served as the chairman of the United Transportation Union Local 431 for CP Rail, and vice-general chairman for CP Lines West.

He was also the MP for the area from 1988-2004, and a Minister from August 1999 to December 2003.

Since leaving politics, Nault started his own business, where he works with numerous First Nations, high tech companies and public sector organizations across the country, advising on issues of governance, energy and government relations.
