Sudbury Daystarter: Attawapiskat walkers pass Moose Factory

FIREFIGHTERS:Greater Sudbury's 350 volunteer firefighters have ratified their first union contract. Their pay will not be going up, but there will be an extra cost to the city, estimated to be between $100,000 and $150,000.

BUSINESS: Sudbury's first incubator kitchen will soon be open for business. It will be a rental kitchen space for people who need an industrial kitchen in order to sell their food. Tune into @morningnorth7:50 for more.

FIRST NATIONS: Three Attawapiskat men are now hundreds of kilometres into a long, cold walk to Ottawa. Danny Metatawabin, Brian Okimaw and Paul Mattinas are trekking to the nation's capital to draw attention to treaty rights. They made it to Moose Factory late last week,and are now walking down the ice road that connects to Smooth Rock Falls. FULL STORY

A cold start to the week, with wind chill warnings in effect for Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Hearst and Smooth Rock Falls. Windchills in these areas will be near minus 40 or colder this morning and again tonight. The rest of the region isn't much warmer. Highs across the Northeast will range from minus 17 to minus 24 with a mix of sun and cloud, but wind chills will make it feel like the minus thirties. Tomorrowwill be slightly colder!
