Proposal to cut daycare subsidy, hike fitness centre fees on the table at Sudbury council meeting

Sudbury city councillors willdebate budget cutbacks and fee hikes atmeetings today.

Staff are proposing a $300,000 cut to daycare sudsidies to meet cuts in funding from the province.

City staff are also suggesting that the fees for using fivecity-run fitness centres be hiked, after the gyms lost $376,000 last year.

Making recreational opportunities available to lower-income Sudburians, reviewing the traffic-calming experiment on Southview Drive and the policy on four-way stops is also on the agenda.
