Sault Ste. Marie byelection date called

Ontarios Chief Electoral Officer Greg Essensa confirmed in a press release that a writ was issued to administer a provincial by-election.

Voters in Sault Ste Marie will be casting their ballots for a new MPP on June 1.

Ontario's Chief Electoral Officer Greg Essensa confirmed in a press release that a writ was issued to administer a provincial by-election.

Liberal David Orazetti resigned as MPP in December, citing family reasons.

All three major parties have announced candidates for the byelection Former Sault mayor Debbie Amaroso for the Liberals, Joe Krmpotich for the NDP and Ross Romano for the Progressive Conservatives.

Both Krmpotich and Romano currently sit as municipal councillors.
