Andre Marin to meet with Sudbury council in the aftermath of his recent probe into a closed-door meeting

Ontario's Ombudsman will speak at a Sudbury city council meeting on Dec. 11 after making the offer to talk with council members following a report he released last month.

Andre Marin found council did nothing wrong when it met behind closed doors regarding the city's auditor general.

However, Marin did say Sudbury city council was the least co-operative group he's ever investigated.

Mayor Marianne Matichuk said she accepted Marin's request to speak with council to learn more about the process of his office.

"This will be an excellent opportunity for us to ask questions of one another," she said.

Marin's report said only four of the 14 Sudbury city officials he wanted to interview were willing to talk.

He accused city councillors of "legal gamesmanship, political gymnastics," and of having a strange aversion to the Ombudsman's twitter account.
