Miner to invest millions in Sudbury area roads

A mining company has agreed to pay three-quarters of the cost of fixing a road on the western reaches of Greater Sudbury.

KGHM has agreed to pick up most of the bill for widening and straightening two roads leading to its Victoria Mine.

The work on Crean Hill Road and Fairbanks East Road isestimated to cost about $5 million.

Sudbury city council will be asked to sign off on the deal at its meeting Tuesday night.

A similar deal with Vale saw the section of Worthington Road leading to its new Totten Mine fixed up over the past few years, at a cost of $15 million.
