Milton teen charged after Chapleau and Espanola bomb threats

A 16-year-old Milton teen has been charged with uttering threats and public mischief, among other charges, after Chapleau Public School was locked down Wednesday.

Chapleau schools spent Wednesday under alert after receiving unspecified threats

A 160year-old Milton, ON, was charged after a threat to Chapleau School JK-12 on Wednesday.

A 16-year-old Milton teenhas been charged with uttering threats and public mischief, among other charges, after two schools in Chapleau on Wednesday and Espanola Fridaywere placed on alert.

Ontario Provincial Police descended on the school in Chapleau, Ont., Wednesday morning, after school officials called. They said a male teenwas making "threats" to the school.

Espanola High School, which houses A.B. Ellis Public School,coleSecondaire Catholique Franco-Ouest, and The One Tot Stop Daycare as well as the high school, are closed today after a similar threat.

Police said both schools received bomb threats by telephone, left in a voicemail message.

Over the weekend, school officials and the Espanola Police Service searched the Espanola High School site. There were no suspicious items located.

The Ontario Provincial Police said that after a joint investigation between Sault Ste. Marie and Espanola detachments, the male was located and charged.

He is being held into custody and will appear in court.The schools and the daycare will re-open on Tuesday, October 18.
