One person dead in Hwy 11 crash south of Temagami, road to remain closed

Provincial police are now reporting one person has died in a morning collision on Highway 11 south of Temagami.

Police say a southbound detour for Highway 11 is available

Police say one person has been confirmed dead in a fire crash on Highway 11, south of Temagami. Highway 11 is currently closed between Temagami and North Bay and is expected to remain closed for an extensive amount of time. Highway 64 is also closed at Pike Lake Road. (Ontario Provincial Police)

Provincial police are now reporting one person has died in a morning collision on Highway 11 south of Temagami.

No further information about the identity of the deceased has been released.

OPP say two tractor trailers were involved in the crash, and one was engulfed in flames.

The crash happened 70 kilometers north of North Bay.

Police say Highway 11 is currently closed between Temagami and North Bay, and is expected to remain closed for an extensive amount of time.

Highway 64 is also closed at Pike Lake Road.

Police say a southbound detour for Highway 11 is available.

Drivers are being told to turn onto Highway 65 in New Liskeard, then proceed through Highway 101 in Quebec.

The Nipissing-ParrySound Student Transportation Services say all Highway 11 north school buses will only be going as far as Parkwood Villa (5887 Hwy 11 N) due to the accident.

They say schools and affected families have been notified.
