Bill Best has only been in Sudbury for four days, but he stopped by the Morning Studio to tell us what he thinks of his new home, and what he has planned for Cambrian College.

A new face in the education community in Greater Sudbury is keeping a wide perspective on the college he serves.

Bill Best, the new president of Cambrian College, comes to the school at a time when the province has signed an agreement with itscolleges.

The agreement compels them to register their 10 strongest programs, along with five they wish to expand. Best told CBC News that mining is a shoo-in here in Sudbury, but other programs need to be offered also.

"We can't just focus on one thing especially in a community like Sudbury, he said.

We want to make sure there's access to other program offerings as well."

The Ontario government is moving toward a system operating in Alberta and British Columbia.

There, each college must focus on what it does best.
