Teens charged with using bear spray on city bus

Police have charged three teenage boyswith mischief, assaultand using bear spray in connection with an incident on a Saskatoon bus, police say.

Passengers and the bus driver had to exit the bus after the incident, which took place at the intersection of FairmontDrive and Fairlight Drive in the Fairhaven neighborhood just after 8 p.m. on Friday, police said in a Monday news release.

None of the victims needed medical attention.

The threefled the scene but officers were able to find them shortly after thanks to descriptions provided by the passengers, police said.

Officers located the suspects in an alley in the 200 block of Fairmont Drive. Two were arrested without incident. The third fled on foot but was arrested shortly after.

Two 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old are facing charges five assault charges, mischief over $5,000, and administering bear spray. The 15-year-olds are also facing charges relating to possession of a weapon, and concealing a weapon.

There have been several incidents of violence on Saskatoon's transit system in recent months, including four in May.
