It's been a bad month for truck owners in Regina.

Thieves have stolen 11 tailgates off parked trucks in the span of one week.

It all started two weeks ago, where six tailgates were stolen from a parking lot on the 700 block of Broad Street at around 1:30 a.m. CST.

Several days later, a tailgate was stolen from a 2016 Ford F250 on the 400 block of Albert Street N.

The next day, four tailgates were stolen from a lot on the 400 block of Albert Street N.

It's not clear why thieves are stealing tailgates. Police are investigating.

Tailgates costly to replace

Gord MayeratCrestviewDodge in Reginasays the new model tailgates can range anywhere from $1,400 to $2,800 to replace. Unfortunately, removing them is a quick and simple process.

"Very easy to take and you can sell them on the black market, make quite a bit of money just selling stolen tailgates," he said.
