1 dead in Highway 11 crash near Regina

A 41-year-old Regina man is dead following a collision on the highway between Regina and Sakatoon early Saturday morning.

A 41-year-old Regina man is dead following a collisionon a highway between Saskatoon and Regina early Saturdaymorning.

The man was driving an SUV whenhe collided with a semi-trailer uniton Highway 11 at around 3 a.m. CST. The crash happenednear Bethune, about 60 kilometres northwest of Regina. The driver of the SUV was the only person in the vehicle and hedied at the scene.

TheRCMPis not releasing the man's name.

The semi driver was uninjured.

Following the incident, thesouthboundlanes of the highway were closed and a detour was set up to redirect traffic around the crash using gravel roads. The highway has since been reopened.

RCMPcontinue to investigate the incident, with the help of the provincial Coroner's Office and an RCMP collision reconstructionist.
