Jeff Boone is spending Saturday giving tips to anyone who might 'bee' interested in producing honey in their own backyard.

Boone has been an urban beekeeper since 2011, and is speaking about the hobby at Saskatoon's Seedy Saturday event.

"I feel like I've made pretty much every mistake in the book," Boone told CBC Radio's Saskatchewan Weekend. But Boone said beekeeping is something you really learn about as you go.

"Each time you make mistakes, you learn and you go on."

Boone explained that while urban beekeeping can benefit the plants and food production in your yard, it doesn't necessarily benefit native pollinators.

He's sharing his tips at Station 20 West until 4 p.m. CST.
