After 'progress' Sunday, City of Saskatoon, Transit union to continue contract negotiations

After a day of negotiations where progress was made towards a new collective bargaining agreement for Saskatoon Transit workers, talks are slated to continue Monday.

The City of Saskatoon and the union representing transit employees met Sunday. The session followed theAmalgamated Transit Union Local 615 giving the city strike notice late Friday afternoon, which would allow workers to take job action as of 5 p.m. CST Sunday.

On Saturday, the city invited union executives back to the bargaining table and on Sunday, negotiations resumed.

If strike action is taken,Jim Yakubowski,president of the transitunion, said the intention wouldn't be to start with full removal of service. In its notice to the city, the unionsaid strike action could include anything from slowdowns to overtime bans, not wearing uniforms, rotating strikes or a complete work stoppage.
