Jorgenson encouraged homeowners to make sure theireavestroughs are cleaned and that downspouts drain at least two metres from the side of the house.

In the event that there is enough rain to overwhelm the storm sewer system, Jorgenson urged caution on flooded streets because the water can disguise manholes with the covers popped off, and potholes.

He said the intersections most likely to floodin heavy rainare the underpass at Circle Drive and Idywyld Drive, and the low intersection at Laurier Drive and Confederation Drive.
