Saskatoon Police, city dealing with riverbank campsite

Police and the city are wrestling with how to handle people living on the riverbank of the South Saskatchewan River.

Last month they moved a group out from underneath a bridge.Now, they've got four people staying in a tent on the west bank.They've been there three months.

Mason Irene, 16, is one of the campers.

"I don't think the police should get involved in it. We're taking care of ourselves, we aren't causing a disturbance to anybody else, we're minding our own business," he said.

Police say they're trying to find a way to deal with the campers that doesn't involve giving tickets.

These include issuing warnings and written notices.
