Poll finds Don Atchison and Charlie Clark tied in Saskatoon mayoralty race

Don Atchison and Charlie Clark are tied in their race to become Saskatoon's next mayor, according to a Mainstreet-Postmedia poll done late last month.

Henry Dayday is in the third spot.

The poll has a margin of error of 3.46 per cent, 19 times out of 20.

As such, Clark and Atchisonboth garnered support from 29 per cent of the 803 respondents. Dayday had 15 per cent. Twenty-six per cent were undecided.

The poll, done over two days in late July, touched on a number of civic issues.

• 40 per cent are in favour of looking at a new downtown arena, with 35 per cent saying they wanted renovations done to Sask Tel Centre.
• 42 per cent say that the city's roads are staying the same while 39 per cent say they're getting worse.
• More than half of those responding, 55 per cent, approve of the Saskatoon Police, but 35 per cent say crime is rising.
• People were split on the issue of carding, where police stop and quiz people they deem suspicious. 43 per cent oppose it, while 38 per cent support it.

The survey was done using a mix of landlines and cellphone numbers.
