Saskatchewan's tallest building gets Saskatoon council approval

City Centre Tower got the green light from Saskatoon city council last night.

Council agreed to allow the massive project to rise above the downtown's 76 metre height limit.

It also agreed to zone the entire complex together as one entity.

The complex will consist of three phases. Phase One is already complete, and the building currently houses mining company BHP Billiton.

The next two phases will consist of two massive towers. Phase Two will be 105 metres tall. Construction on that tower likely won't begin until late 2015.

Phase Three will be 87 metres tall. The project will contain business and residential space, as well as parking.

The company behind the building, North Prairie Developments didn't want to comment further.

North Prairie Developments will be putting out more information on the project next month.
