Oh no! Snow forecasted for southern Saskatchewan

Cool temperatures? That's okay.

Rain and wind in the forecast? That's to be expected.

Environment Canada, however, is predicting an early October surprise.

It seems that a low pressure system brewing in southeastern Montana (thanks a lot!) is pushing rain and strong winds into southern Saskatchewan. Parts of the south will see 25 to 50 mm before the system rolls out by mid-week. Other areas will see a real soaker with up to 75 mm.

In higher elevations over the Cypress Hills on Tuesday, up to 10 cm of snow is possible. Then, as it cools off, other parts of southern and central Saskatchewan could see snow Tuesday night or on Wednesday morning. Again, as much as 10 cm could fall, but it should melt quickly.

Environment Canada suggests the exact track and intensity of this Montana system is a little unpredictable, and so they're asking people to pay attention to the forecast.
