Jason Grieve no longer coaching U of S women's volleyball

The University of Saskatchewan'sHuskieAthletics has announced "a mutual parting of ways" with women's volleyball head coach Jason Grieve, effective today.

Grieve was placed on leave last month during an investigation into undisclosed "concerns" that were raised.

Huskie Athletics declined to give details on the nature of the concerns, or who raised them, both then and now. Nor would it discuss the outcome of the investigation.

"As this relates to an employment matter, the university must respect the privacy of all those involved," said HuskieAthletics Director Basil Hughton.

"What I can say, that it is not of a physical nature," Hughton added, but would say nothing more, including whether it was the university's call to part ways.

Hughton said the search for a new head coach begins immediately. The job will be posted at the end of this month, to coincide with the CIS national championships for women.

The team's season is over, having played the final three weeks with the assistant coaches in charge.

"We will move forward, and look to have a new beginning for this program and Huskie Athletics and the women's volleyball program moving forward," Hughton said.

His goal is to have a new coach in place by June 1.

Meanwhile, recruitment of players for next season is ongoing, with the involvement of the assistant coaches and Hughton.
