You can check out people at Saskatoon's 'human library'

A Saskatoon libraryis letting readers check out humans instead of booksto learn about one common topic: Adoption.

Eight volunteer 'books'will offerdifferent perspectives andpersonal stories at the RustyMacdonaldLibrary this weekend.

LeahDeans, resource director with the Adoption Support Centre of Saskatchewan, said the library event is a way tochallenge stereotypes and prejudices, and allow people to have one-on-one conversations with people that can give them direct answers.

"It's a movement that's travelled around the world and it often covers many different topics," Deans said of the human library idea.

Readers will have the opportunity to peruse different book jackets on display, choosing and registering to 'read'that book. The one-on-one conversations will be 15 minutes long. You can speak to one person or all eight if you wish.

The human library will takeplace on Sunday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. CST.
