COVID-19 in Sask: 11 new cases recorded in province, nine more recoveries

Saskatchewan has now had 564 cases of COVID-19 recorded in the province.

On Sunday, the Government of Saskatchewan announced there were 11 new cases of COVID-19. Nine new cases were recorded in the far north region of the provine, while two new cases are in the north region.

Of the province's 564 cases, 209 of them are considered active, while 349 are considered recovered. Of the province's 209 active cases, roughly 92 per cent of them are located in northern Saskatchewan, where there are a combined 193 active cases.

The number of recoveries saw a slight increase on Sunday as well, as the government listed 349 cases as recovered, compared to 340 cases on Saturday afternoon.

Of the province's 564 cases, 138 are travel-related, 286 are community contacts or linked to mass gatherings, 61 have no known exposure and 79 remain under investigation by local health authorities.

The number of people receiving care in hospitals also dropped on Sunday. The province said 12 people are currently hospitalized,eight of them receiving in-patient care and fourin intensive care. That's compared to 15 people in hospital on Saturday, when 10 were listed in in-patient care and five people were listed as receiving intensive care.

The number of active cases in the province's major urban centres remains low, as Regina has only one case considered active while Saskatoon has 14.

As of Sunday afternoon, a total of 36,860 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province.
