Cheyann Peeteetuce to stand trial for fatal crash in Saskatoon

A 21-year-old Saskatoon woman accused of drunkenly smashing a stolen truck into a car with three teens is going straight to trial.

Two of the teens, J.P. Haughey and Sarah Wensley, were killed. The third suffered serious injuries but survived. The collision happened on May 5 at the corner of 22nd Street West and Avenue M. The teens, all high school students, were going to a track practice.

In a brief court appearance on Tuesday, Cheyann Peeteetuce waived her right to a preliminary hearing and opted to go straight to trial at Court of Queen's Bench.

No date has been set.

Peeteetuce is facing a variety of charges, including drunk driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing police.
