CBC asks, what movies give you a fright on Halloween?

It's Halloweenseason, the most wonderful time to fear.

With The Shiningplaying at the Roxy Theatre Friday night, CBC asked some people in Saskatoon what they think is the scariest movie ever?

Robert Johnson picked The Shining,giving it a 7/10 on the horror meter.

"Shining is a movie that I can remember that scared me the most. And I was young anyway and it's kind of kept its impact on me," Johnson said."When I see it now, Nicholson's performance is so over the top that it's almost kind of funny. But if you see it as a kid at 10, it's incredibly frightening," he said.

Johnson said he also enjoyed The Substance with Demi Moore and Requiem for a Dream,which is not so conventionally scary but he said the drug use and addiction in that movie was definitely frightening.

Noah Rossmoagreed that The Shining is up there on the horror list, with its isolation and craziness, but hesaid the scariest movie ever is Sinister,giving it a 10/10. He also mentionedthe TV show The Haunting of Hill House, rating it 9/10.

"Sinister, it's very scary, it's ghosty, but it has to do with like serial killer stuff too, and TV show Hill House is very creepy," he said.

Thomas Lamothe said he wants to watch Terrifier 3, although his father is not too keenabout that movie choice.

"People are like walking out of the theatres and like vomiting and stuff me and my friends are gonna definitely watch all the new scary movies," Lamothe said.

A Nightmare on Elm Street, Smile, The Autopsy of Jane Doe and the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie also had some fans.
