Amanda Totchek released with conditions in mail case

A Saskatoon woman charged withharassment, fraud and uttering threats is out of jail.

Amanda May Totchekis free -- but she must abide by numerous conditions.

The case dates back to earlier this year. Police said that people and businesses in the Saskatoon area received packages over a period of two months containing letters. Inside the package, there wasa request to forward the contents to the address on the envelope.

Investigators believe the letters are part of an ongoing investigation into harassment, fraud and uttering threats.

After a lengthy police investigation, shewas charged in February. She is facing a total of 50 charges.

She appeared in provincial court this morning, where the prosecutor and defense agreed to release her.

"This is her last release," prosecutor Kim Humphries said in court. "The Crown is taking a zero tolerance approach."

Totchek must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and live with her parents. She must follow a curfew and submit to a warrantless search on demand.

She is also prohibited from having any contact with 35 people identified in her release papers. In addition, she must not have a cell phone, or any electronic devices -- including a computer, so that she cannot access the internet.

Totchek is back in court May 28.
