Wall says Cameco tax accusations up to Ottawa

Brad Wall says his government will rely on Ottawa to pursue accusations that Cameco has allegedly evaded hundreds of millions of dollars in corporate tax. Wall also said the province has been in touch with the Uranium mining company with its concerns about the case.

The Saskatchewan Premier says his government has also been in touch with the Uranium giant

Premier Brad Wall has weighed in on a story highlighted byCBC Saskatchewan's iTeam last week.

One of Saskatchewan's largest corporations,Cameco, has been accused by Ottawa of evading hundreds of millionsof dollars in corporate tax.Up to $350 million of that money may be owed to Saskatchewan.

Brad Wall says his government will rely on Ottawa to pursue the case. He also saidthe province has been in touch with the Uranium giant.

"You bet I'm concerned about it," Wall told reporters Tuesday. "Which is why, as soon as this story happened last week, I asked that we contact immediately the folks at Cameco and let them know that this is a concern, and we expect everybody to pay taxes."

The matter is still before the courts, and it could take years tosettle.
