Three more sentenced in 2004 murder

Three men who pleaded guilty in connection with the 2004murder of Regina's Wayne Gerald Friday are off to prison.

The three Regina men were originally charged with first-degree murder. However,the Crown accepted guilty pleas on Monday to lesser offences and their cases went directly to sentencing.

Tyrone Lyndon Southwind, 26,pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for parolefor 10 years.

Elwin Michael Goodpipe, 23,and Randy John Southwind, 23,both enteredguilty pleas to manslaughter.

They were sentenced to 11 years for the crime, but with deductions for time already served their net sentences will be 8 years.

According to evidence put before Court of Queen's Bench Justice Frank Gerein, Friday was attacked by members of a Regina gang on Nov. 20, 2004.

A group of six went to his house, beat him up, put him into the trunk of a car. A short distance away, the trunk was opened and twomen shothim. Friday's nakedbody was found on a First Nations reserve east of Regina later in the day. He was 44.

One oftheshooters, Quinton Lloyd Bitternose, 29, was convicted of first-degree murderin May. The Crown called him the ringleader. The second shooter wasTyrone Southwind, the Crown said.

Two other men, 25-year-old Conrad Byron Moise and 26-year-old Shawn Warren Nippistill face first-degree murder charges in connection with the case. Nippi's trial is set for fall.

The Crown said Monday it would accept a guilty plea from Moise to manslaughter. He's expected to make a decision on that by Wednesday.
