Thousands of election workers being hired in Saskatchewan

Elections Saskatchewan is gearing up for the April 4 provincial election and is on a hiring binge.

Workers needed in virtually all of the 61 constituencies, official says

Elections Saskatchewan is gearing up for the April 4 provincial election and is on a hiring binge.

Some 10,000 workers are needed to help out on the big day.

Anyone can apply as long as they are at least 18 years old, says Michael Boda, the province's chief electoral officer.

It means a little cash, but also an opportunity to participate in a piece of Saskatchewan history.

"The importance is giving back to your community, being part of this exciting process of democracy," he said.

Virtually every one of the 61 constituencies in the province is looking for elections staff, Boda said.

There are a few changes this year when it comes to how you can vote.

For the first time, advance polls will be available to anyone even people who will be in the province on election day.

As well,people with mobility issues will also havethe option of voting at home.
