Man, 48, fatally shot in Saskatoon's 3rd homicide of the year

A 48-year-old man is dead and Saskatoon police say they're looking for a suspectafter the city's third homicide of the year.

At about 12:25 a.m. Saturday, officers were called with a report of an injured person at a home on the 200 block of Avenue I South,in the Riversdale neighbourhood, Saskatoon police said in a news release.

Officers found a 48-year-old man with gunshot wounds, who was taken to hospitalbut died from the injuries soon after.

Police told CBC they are still looking for a suspect. They say the victim and the suspect knew each other, but they have notreleased the age or sex of the suspect.

The victim's next of kin have been notified,but police said they are not releasing his name at this point.

The major crimes unitcontinues to investigate,and police are asking anyone with information on the homicide to call them at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

This is the third weekendin a row police have reported a homicide in Saskatoon, following the deaths of a 48-year-old man on Feb. 10 and a 25-year-old man from Alberta on Feb. 3.
