Senator wipes tears from eyes discussing expenses scandal

Saskatchewan Senator Lillian Dyck had an emotional reaction to the senate expenses scandal when approached by CBC News this week.

While walking to work in Ottawa on Thursday morning, she said she passed an aboriginal woman begging in the street.

"We are in such a privileged position. We should not abuse it and it looks like that's what happens," she said.

"I can not stand it and today it just hit me: that woman is suffering. They look like they're milking the system. What is wrong? there's something clearly wrong."

Dyck, who's from Gordon First Nation, told CBC there should be public hearings on the senate scandal.

Senators Mike Duffy, Pamela Wallin, Patrick Brazeau and Mac Harb are the four members of the red chamber facing scrutiny over expenses.
