Semi hits cows on highway near Maidstone, Sask.

Two cows had to be put down after being hit by a semi on Highway 16 on the weekend, Saskatchewan RCMP say, and the driver of the truck was injured.

Two cows had to be put down after being hit bya semi-truck onHighway 16on the weekend, SaskatchewanRCMPsay.

It happened Saturday, between the communities of Maidstone and Paynton on the west side of the province.

Police say the semihit several cattle that hadwandered ontothe highway.

The driver of a small car was slightly injured afterswervingto avoid the wreckage.

The truck driver was sent to hospital after the crash.

Police say they are not expecting to lay charges.
