SaskTel reduces cellphone charges for travellers

SaskTel is dropping the rates for data and voice for cellphone use in the U.S. and several countries abroad.

Rates for U.S. and certain other international destinations have been dropped

Sasktelhas dropped the cost of using your cellphone in the U.S. and several other countries.

EffectiveNov.26, 2015, the new rates for its Roam and Relax travel planin the U.Swill be $0.07per megabyte and $0.07per minute for voice calls.

As well, international data rates in Mexico, Netherlands, Australia, Portugal, Bermuda and Costa Rica have been reduced to only $1 per megabyte. Data previously cost up to$15per megabyte.

The company said the rates are options for travellers who are away for short to medium time frames and will be automatically applied to their plans when they cross the border.

It will also offer add-on travel plans for those who are travelling for longer periods of time.

"Although we already have great smartphone plans offering unlimited U.S. texting, our customers told us they require the same level of connectivity when they travel as they have at home," Ron Styles,SaskTelPresident and CEO said in a news release.
