Roughriders players cut long locks, help raise $27K for cancer agency

The Canadian Hair Force has once again completed another successful mission.

After weeks of growth, Saskatchewan Roughriders Dylan Ainsworth, Scott McHenry, and Levi Steinhauer cut off their long blonde and red locks on Tuesday.

It's all part of the Cameco Touchdown for Dreams program. Together with the Riders, the programs helps fund dreams for women with life-threatening cancer.

Rider Nation also deserves a pat on the back for their efforts. This year, fans helped raise money by purchasing pink pennants and mittens at the Riders Oct. 24 home game, as well as donating cash at all five Riders Stores.

In the end,Ainsworth,McHenryandSteinhauerpresented the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency with a cheque for $27,800.

The money will be used to grant 10 dreams for Saskatchewan women with life-threatening cancer. Sadly, four of the women who were selected in spring have since passed away.

"We are extremely proud of the Rider Nation for helping us make a difference in the lives of these women,"McHenrysaid in a news release. "We have all been affected by cancer in one way or another, so to be part of this program was very important to us."
