The Riders are looking to the future for this season following another pre-season loss. Twentyplayers were released over the weekend, trimmingthe team's roster to 46 players.

Head coach Chris Jones addressed the media Monday to address the changes and his plans for the team moving forward.

Quarterback Brett Smith was among those released, leaving just two quarterbacks ready for the field.

Jones said that releasing Smith was just part of building a better team.

"We have the way we grade, it's not just one game, it's not just two games, it was a culmination of the entire camp," said Jones.

With this open spot, the Riders are now looking for a third quarterback.

The team has two weeks to fill the position, and Jones said that the three quarterback positions will be announced once the team returns for practice.

Despite the rocky start to the year, Jones remains optimistic about the season to come.

"I'm sure the sky is falling out there being 0-2 in the pre-season, but we feel very confident moving forward," said Jones.

"We've got good players, we've got good coaches, and good character in the room andwe've got good leadership. Anytime you've got those ingredients, I feel very confident that we can win."
