Work continues at the site of Regina's new football stadium where the installation of the roof portion of the building is well underway.

Crews will install more than 130,000 square feet (or 12,000 square metres) of a translucent material designed to allow maximum daylight into the stadium while providing shading at the same time.

The material is the same type used at BC Place in Vancouver.

The stadium is set to be substantially completed by the end of August. The city-owned facility will go through some trial runs and be fully ready for the start of the 2017 football season.

The new stadium, which is being built under a fixed-cost contract for $278 million, was announced in July of 2012. It will have seating for a regular football game of 33,000. More seats can be added for special events and concerts.
