16-year-old charged after shots fired at 2 homes in Regina

Regina police have laid seven charges againsta 16-year-old boy and are looking for a second suspect after an investigation into gunshots that hit two homes in North Central early Sunday morning.

Someone fired small calibre bullets at a home on the 1500 block of Cameron Street around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a police news release. Minutes later, another call came in about a home on the 1300 block ofAtholStreet being shot at. No one was injured at either home.

Police attendingthe scenes also noticed damage done to vehicles in the area.

The 16-year-old suspect in custody, whocannot be namedpursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested without incident shortly after the second home was shot at, police said.

He is charged with possession of a firearm, two counts of discharging a restricted or prohibited firearm at a place in a reckless manner, two counts of mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon and breach of undertaking. He made his first appearance on the charges in youth court Monday morning.

Police are still looking for a second male suspect.

Those two incidents were the second and third shootings at homes in the city recently. A home on the 100 block of Ottawa Street was also fired upon Friday night.
