After two people were killed in a T-bone collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 624 east ofRegina Wednesday, people on social media started calling for changes to how traffic is regulated through the increasingly busycommuter corridor.

In the past, residents east of Regina have been vocal about installing traffic signals along the highway, citing a rash of collisions and deaths that have happened along the route over the past few years.

A year ago, the speed limit was reduced to 90 km/hour in an effort to reduce collisions.

On Wednesday,Facebook users commenting on media postshad varied responses to the crash.

"Why is waiting for a safe time to cross such a issue out there? This isn't icy conditions, poor visibility, or other factors outside a driver'scontrol," commented Curtis Nernberg.

Cheryl Didur echoed a similar sentiment: "Far too many people are impatient, and try to sneak across when there simply isn't enough time. I have had to brake to avoid hitting vehicles many times."

"The people that are voted into their position so are not protecting the public. One death should have been too many. They should have acted a long time ago. Overpasses in the works for a few years down the line - not that they will fix the problem. And how many more people have to die in the meantime?" wrote Farzana Erickson.

Earlier this year a crash involving a semi-trailer and a car killed one man.
