In order to cut costs amid trying times for newspapers, the Moose Jaw Times-Herald has stopped printing its Monday edition.

The Saskatchewan newspaper's publisher, Roger Holmes, said in an articleon the paper's website that from now on, the print version of the Times-Herald will come out Tuesday to Saturday only.

The last Monday print edition was publishedearlier this week.

Holmes said the paper doesn't expect to reduce newsroom staff and will continue to publish breaking weekend stories online.

"Simple economics" were behind the change, Holmes said in the article, noting that advertising revenue for the Monday edition wasn't covering the cost of printing it.

Other newspapers around North America have taken the same approach to reducing costs by eliminating their Monday print edition.
