What's closed and cancelled Monday in Saskatchewan

More closures have happened in the province as concerns about COVID-19 continue to grow.

The City of Regina on Monday announced new closures and cancellations relatedto the novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19. Mayor Michael Fougere and city manager Chris Holden announced that city facilities and recreational areas will all be closed.

"We're acting not from a place of panic but a place of prevention," Fougere said."We are in unchartered territory but I do believe we will get throughthis."

Fougere said city employees will be paid through the closures. Holden saidthe city will honour the contract payments it needsto.

The provincial government announced classes would be suspended. The provincial government's provincewide ban on gatherings of more than 250 peoplestartstoday.

Here's a look at the closures in reaction toCOVID-19:

• The City of Regina is cancelling all events and conferences until further notice.

• The City of Regina is closing all public library locations until further notice.They arealso closing all ice arenas, leisure centres and neighbourhood centres, as well as the floral conservatory. People can get refunds or credits for their Leisure Passes.

• Regina city council and committee meetings have been postponed until further notice.

• SaskGaming has suspended operations and temporarily closed Casinos Regina and Moose Jaw until further notice.

• TCU Place has postponed a number of events including: The Glorious Sons, Masters of Illusion, Accent with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, Singing for My Survival, and Jesse Cook. People are advised to hang onto their tickets and wait for more information.

• TCU Place has also cancelled Anne of Green Gables - The Ballet and people will be refunded.

• YMCA Saskatoon has closed their Health Fitness Aquatics programs and services starting at noon for an undetermined time.

• Persephone Theatre has cancelled three upcoming productions, the province-wide youth tourand school of theatre programming.

• The University of Regina is transitioning to online classes andwill be suspending all classes from Monday, March 16, to Thursday, March 19.

• The Conservatory of Performing Arts in Regina has cancelled all lessons, classes and events through April 30.

• The MacKenzie Art Gallery in Regina is closed until further notice.

• TheRCMP HeritageCentre in Regina is closed and not accepting facility rentals or educational program booking for March, April and May.

• Saskatchewan Science Centre in Regina is closed and has cancelled all events.

• The University of Saskatchewan is transitioning to online classes and will be closed from Monday, March 16, to Wednesday, March 18.
• The City of Saskatoon is also closing leisure centres,including The Cosmo Civic Centre, Lakewood Civic Centre, Lawson Civic Centre, Shaw Centre, Saskatoon Field House and more.
• The Saskatoon Public Library announced Sunday that it's closing all locations for the next two weeks.Book returns remain open and late fees will be waived. Workers will be available to answer questionsby phone or emailing askus@saskatoonlibrary.ca.
• The Saskatchewan Country Music Association has postponed their awards.
• The Nutrien WonderHub in Saskatoon is closed.
• All jury trials in the province that were set to start between March 16 and May 30 are postponed.The court says anyone summoned to attend for jury duty before May30 should not attend court.
• In Prince Albert, events through the month of March have been cancelled at the EA Rawlinson Centre for the Arts.

Local sport events cancelled or postponed

• Boxing Saskatchewan has cancelled all activityincluding existing sanctions, issuance of new sanctions, travel permits and training camps until June 15.
• The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League 2019/2020 season has been cancelled.
• Play Sask Sports is cancelling its leagues for the rest of the season.
• Sanctioned Saskatchewan Rugby practices are cancelled.
• The Western Hockey League season is on pause until further notice.
• SaskatoonUltimate Disc-Sport Society is halting sessions.
• Saskatoon Adult Soccer League is cancelling sessions.
• Regina Rec League is cancelling the remaining winter season.
• Regina Community Basketball Association spring league issuspended.
