Missing Saskatoon woman's lifestyle a concern

The family of a Saskatoon woman missing for four months is increasing its efforts to get help from the public to find her, and police are concerned her high-risk lifestyle mirrors other cases that ended in tragedy.

Karina Wolfe, 20, vanished from the city's west side in the early evening of July 2.

Since her disappearance, she has left no record of banking activity and has failed to pick up prescription medication.

Her family last saw her in the 800 block of Appleby Drive asa passenger in a 2001 grey Corvette. The vehicle was being driven by a middle-aged Caucasian man her family says they don't know.

Her mother, Carol Wolfe, said the young woman struggled with an addiction to crystal methamphetamine, a highly-addictive synthetic street drug.

Carol Wolfe, who is deaf, told CBC through an interpreter that she's not going to give up trying to find her.

"I still need to look for her," she said. "I'm scared and I'm fearful of what's happened."

Alyson Edwards, a spokeswomanfor Saskatoon police,said their investigation has raised a number of "red flags."

"We became very concerned because we discovered that she was missing appointments that previously would have been important to her that she was failing to pick up prescribed medication," Edwards said.

Wolfe is described as five feet, seven inches tall, weighing 110 pounds, with brown eyes and medium length black hair. She has previously dyed her hair dark pink, red and blonde. She has a heart tattoo on her left hand and a birthmark on her upper lip.

Karina Wolfewas last seen wearing blue denim shorts, a blue T-shirt, a multicoloured jacket and pink sandals. Police are asking anyone with information to call the Saskatoon Police Service at (306) 975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
