Man charged after dashcam captures Regina vandalism

Regina police are looking at dashcam evidence linked to a graffiti vandal.

A man is facing a mischief chargeless than a month after a video that appeared to show him writing on a car was posted to Facebook.

A dashcam captured this alleged vandal marking up a car in a Regina shopping mall. Regina police have now charged the man with mischief. (Facebook)

Regina police said they first received a report of the incident, which took place in the parking lot of a restaurant on the 2900 block of Gordon Road, on May 10.

They said the vehicle owner was inside the restaurant when an unknown suspect used a permanent marker to write on the2015 Chevrolet Silverado.

The incident was caught on a dashboard camera, which the owner submitted to police and also posted to a Facebook page that shames bad parkers in the province.

Within days, members of the public had provided a name to go with the image of the vandal.

The suspect, Cihan Diker,is set to appear in court on July 14.
