Florence Holt says the folks down at the Lumsden Park Manor Tenants Association usually havea $10 gift exchange during the holiday season.

But at a potluck dinner on Saturday, Holt raised a challenge.Instead of having a gift exchange, she suggested they take part inCBC's Comfort & Joy challenge.

She is the secretary treasurer for theLumsdenPark Manor Tenants Association.

"I asked them to make [the donation] as food, not just as $10 because that's pretty easy," Holt said.

Holt said she has had two boxes in the lounge of the manor to collect donations. There are 29 people in all who will be donating, she said.

"We've always usually done something for the food bank," Holt said. "So, it was something everyone was quite pleased to do."

Holt did not stop there. She threw down the gauntlet on air and asked other organizations and businesses to take up the challenge for a good cause.

Those who take partare eligible to win a coffee party and some free goodies. Coffee will be delivered by CBC'sJill Morgan and Sheila Coles and they will visit with the winners.
