Lead water pipes being replaced in Regina

City of Regina workcrews will be replacing lead water lines on Dewdney Avenue over three days starting Monday.

Two-way traffic will be maintained in the eastbound lanes.The work will be done on Dewdney between Connaught and Arthur streets.

According to the city, there are approximately 5,000 lead service connections in Regina. The connections are typicallyto older homes built before 1949.

Lead may impact human health, especially in small children and pregnant women.

Health Canada has set an allowable limit of 0.010 milligrams per litre of lead in drinking water.
