How police found Karina Wolfe after 5-year search

Last week police announced that they had found the remains of Karina Wolfe.Here is the timeline of how police found her, after searching for five years.

July 2, 2010

Karina Wolfe, 20 years old, is last seen in the area of 20th Street and Avenue H in Saskatoon.

July 20, 2010

Karina Wolfeisreported missing by her mother, Carol Wolfe.

2010 - 2015

For the next five years police continue to search for Karina Wolfe while family and friends remember her at vigils.

Nov. 10, 2015

Jerry Franklin Constant,33, walks into the service centre of the Saskatoon Police Service. He providesinvestigators with a possible location of Karina Wolfe and providesinvestigators a story as to what happened to Karina.

Nov. 11, 2015

Jerry Franklin Constant is released from police custody and placed into the care of the Dub Centre where he remainsuntil his arrest.

A potential search area is identified in the outskirts of Saskatoon, within the area of Corman Park. The area is about the size of a football field and marshy.

Saskatoon police seek assistance from the Office of the Coroner, a forensic anthropologist, the RCMP cold case major crime unit, and the CormanPark police service.

Investigators begin the search.

Nov. 14, 2015

By Nov. 14, 2015 human remains arelocated within the search area. They are documented and removed for forensic examination.

Nov. 18, 2015

An autopsy is conducted and the remains are found to belong to an aboriginal female between the ages of 20 and 22. Investigators are told the remains themselves have not been present in that location for longer than fiveyears.

Nov. 26, 2015

Investigators receiveconfirmation through DNA analysis that the remains are those of Karina Wolfe. The police department's missing person liaisonand investigators notify Carol Wolfe and the family.

Jerry Franklin Constant is charged with unlawfully causing the death of Karina Wolfe, committing the offence of second degree murder, and improperly interfering with her remains.

Nov. 30, 2015

Jerry Franklin Constant makes his first court appearance.

Police updatethe media, saying Jerry FranklinConstant only recently became a person of interest in this investigation. Police also say there doesn't appear to be any prior relationship between Karina and the accused.

"While Karina's story is coming to a conclusion, there are also still many other stories of other families looking for answers into the disappearance of their loved ones," StaffSgt. TysonLavalleereminds reporters.

"We believe that there are still individuals that have information about this file and other disappearances, and other unsolved homicides, and other missing person investigations. And we continue to work in locating these people, encouraging them to come forward and sharing their information with the police."

The search continues for information on other missing and murdered aboriginal women.
