Gang unit called in on Regina hammer attack investigation

Regina police have made an arrest after a man was attacked with a hammer and the gang unit has been called in to investigate.

Regina police have arrested a man after a serious assault in Regina and the gang unit has been called in to investigate.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Lorne St. on the north side of the city at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday for a report of an injured man.

Later in the day they arrested a 36-year-old man.

He's been charged with the attempted murder of a man. He's also been charged withforcible confinement and uttering threats against a woman.

The man charged appeared in court brieflyin court Friday morning. He had a black eye.

Court heard it's alleged he attacked the man with a hammer.

Police said in addition to the street gang unit, the major crimes unit, the forensic identification unitand uniformed officers continue to investigate.

Police did not release any details on the age, identity or the condition of the victim.
