An overnight house fire in Regina gutted one home and left two neighbouring homes with damage as well.

TheRegina Fire Department said it was called at 12:29 a.m. CST to the 1700 block of Toronto Street in the Heritage Neighbourhood.

Glenn Wagner is the acting deputy chief of the Regina Fire Department. He said when crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames and it was extending to the house on the southern side of it.

The southern neighbouring home had its roof and attic damaged and sections of roof sunken in. The fire also spread to the northern neighbourhing home and it had siding melted and fire on the roof as well. Wagner said the attic fire was attacked quickly by crews and damage is minor to the third home.

"The crews had a typical fast response time. They had a quick knock down on it. It was good," Wagner said.

Wagner said everyone was out of the three homes when the crews arrived but he wasn't sure the number of people in each home. Five fire rigs, about 20 people, responded to the home fire, he said.

"It's under investigation. The investigator wrapped up this morning. He was there on scene last night. And so they'll continue on their investigations and that's the next step," Wagner said.
