RCMP 'very happy' with Craven jamboree crowd

RCMP at the Craven Country Jamboree say they are "very happy" with the level of co-operation they are encountering from people at the country music event.

The jamboree, west of Regina, transforms the area into a city of 20,000.

On Saturday, the Mounties said they had issued 38 traffic tickets and responded to three reports of assault with a weapon, as well as nine instances of disturbing the peace. There was no immediate word on charges related to those calls, but RCMP did note they had detained 14 people from the event.

"Officers will continue to enforce a 'zero tolerance' policy towards public drunkenness, open liquor, causing a disturbance and any other offence," the Mounties said in a statement.

Festival tips

They also provided a reminderthat people should lock up their valuables when they are away from their campsite.

People looking to report an incident were provided the following tips:

• For emergencies,call 911.
• If it is not a life-threatening emergency, please call 306-310-RCMP with your specific location and a contact number.
• When talking to an RCMP call-taker, stay on the line until they have all the information that police need. As cell phone coverage is inconsistent, ifyou've made a call to police for assistance, stay exactly where you are as officers may call youback. (Wanting to meet the officers at the bandstand won't work, it's too busy there.)

RCMP were also requesting that people refrain from using social media to submit complaints or reports.
