Former Copper Kettle owner memorialized in Regina mural

A newly completed mural in downtown Regina is memorializing a man whose restaurant was afixture of the city for 50 years.

Robert Gardikiotis was co-owner of the Copper Kettle restaurant until he died in February at 81.

Gardikiotis and his wife owned and operated the well-known restaurant on Scarth Street across from Victoria Park for half a century.

Now the former owner's face smiles down on passerbys from a shining mural created by Danny Fernandez of Adapt Media.

The mural also features an image of Gardikiotis and his wife from the early days of the restaurant.

A lotof spray paint

The project was quite the feat to complete.

Adapt Media posted on Facebook saying it took 12 days and close to 200 hours of labour.

It also took 100 cans of spray paint to complete the 30x9 metre piece.

"It was an honour to pay respect to such a great man who contributed so much to our city," the media group said on Facebook.
