Ashlyn George has been just about everywhere you can imagine in Saskatchewan.

George spent the year visiting memorable places in the province, meeting interesting people and sharing some stunning photos on social media.

"I was all over the place north, south, east, west," George told CBC Radio's Saskatchewan Weekend host Eric Anderson. "It was a little bit hectic at times, but it was fantastic."

Travel to the different locations was a big part of the position.

"I've driven just under 30,000 kilometres since the middle or end of January. It's a lot of time in the vehicle," she said, with a laugh. "I listen to audio books a lot."

George's time as the Saskatchewanderer is coming to a close and the provincial government is taking applications for next year.

"It's a lot of work," she cautioned would-be wanderers. "People don't realize all the time [involved]. Social media is 24/7. I get messages at three a.m."

George said her goal in the position was simple.

"What I shoot for with everything that I put up there [on social media] is somebody to be saying, 'I've never heard of this' or tagging their friends and saying, 'Let's go,'" she said. "That, for me, is success because I want people to be inspired by Saskatchewan in the way that I have been."
